RESTON, Va. (April 23, 2026) – Volkswagen of America recently awarded select individuals that interacted with its relaunched ‘Drivers wanted’ campaign. Throughout the televised and social media spots, viewers encountered a series of invitations; one being a dust-covered Golf GTI with “call me” scrawled beneath a phone number. The invitations promoted the spirit of saying yes, a declaration that echoes the original campaign’s mission to invite young consumers to drive culture forward. The phone numbers also led to a sweepstakes microsite, where participants could enter for a chance to win various VW-themed items and experiences, with the grand prize being a 2026 Golf GTI.
The GTI was awarded to Sean Hagebusch, who recently collected his 2026 Golf GTI Autobahn in Slate Blue from Herzig-Meier Volkswagen of Beaverton, Oregon; recently honored for 45 years of service with the Volkswagen brand.
“I noticed the ad while scrolling through Instagram and figured ‘why not?’ So, I put my info in and forgot about it. When I got the email saying I won, I was like WOW, I can’t believe it – I’ve never won anything this big before!”
– Sean Hagebusch, winner
“We are thrilled to welcome Sean into our enthusiast community. ’Drivers wanted’ will continue to be an invitation to take the wheel, and we wish him all the best as he experiences the freedom and fun of the road in a Volkswagen.”
– Rachael Zaluzec, Senior Vice President of Customer Experience and Brand Marketing, Volkswagen of America
The campaign also awarded a five-night stay at Hotel Willa in Taos, NM with use of a Volkswagen Taos during the visit and tickets with gift bags for 2026 U.S. Soccer Men’s National Team matches.
