MANHATTAN BEACH, Calif. (July 1, 2025) – After months of speculation, we’re delighted to announce that fans of art, culture, and air-cooled Porsches will be able to explore many of the finest examples on the American Tobacco Campus (ATC) in the national historic district located in Durham, North Carolina. Originally slated as the venue for Luft 7 in 2020 but abandoned because of the global pandemic, the Luft team is excited to finally finish the process of hosting an event in the heart of historic Durham.

Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the district was established by the American Tobacco Company from 1874 up to the 1950s. Once the home of Lucky Strike, there is a direct connection between the collection of factory buildings and Porsche motorsport activities during the 20th century, including notable racing cars such as the 917K that competed in the 1970 Kyalami 9-hour race.

As one of the busiest industrial centers in the country, the facility shipped products around the world for decades. However, the end of the tobacco industry in Durham gave the “Bull City” an opportunity to re-invent itself, and ATC is the eloquent result.

The revitalized campus features sporting and community spaces among its red brick buildings as well as a fast flowing river that provides a dynamic counterpoint to the solidity of the historic structures. And set among these buildings will be an array of Porsche’s finest air-cooled sports cars dating back to the origins of the company. ATC will provide the perfect canvas for Creative Director Jeff Zwart to work alongside co-founder Patrick Long in producing an unforgettable experience for visitors.

With its East Coast location, Durham provides the ideal destination for Porsche owners and fans to visit from along the Atlantic seaboard; from New York to Florida and beyond. The location also provides collectors an opportunity to showcase their cars at Luftgekühlt for perhaps the first time.

Owners wishing to display their cars will have the opportunity once ticket sales and car registration opens. We will make a separate announcement once the box office opens at luftgekuhlt.com. Travel and hotel information, including event room blocks will be made available also via the event website.

Based on previous events and the size of the venue, organizers expect Luft 11 to sell out quickly, so please stay tuned to ticket announcements either via social media channels @luftgekuhlt or by signing up to the newsletter at luftgekuhlt.com.

SUPPORTING EVENTS
As always, Luftgekühlt and its partner brands will be supporting a number of events for visitors across the weekend. Information about each of these will be made available as details are finalized.
