GOODWOOD, U.K. (July 9, 2026) – RUF Automobile debuted an all-new, twin-turbocharged flat-eight (Boxer-8) engine at the Goodwood Festival of Speed. Developed entirely in-house and known internally as the “Erprober” (Tester), the bespoke 4.8-liter engine produces 1,000+ hp and 739 lb-ft of torque, and currently serves as a testbed for what will likely define its future.

Rather than unveiling the engine in a static display, RUF embedded it inside a lengthened RUF CTR3 and sent it up the Goodwood hill during the event’s Supercar Run, with Tanner Foust behind the wheel.

RUF’s decision to bring the B8 to Goodwood and run it in the Supercar Run reflects the company’s “hidden in plain sight” approach to testing—instead of just talking about what the car can do, they’re letting fans actually hear the twin-turbo boxer-eight in action for the first time as it tackles the hillclimb.

The CTR3 carrying the engine also sports a custom livery created in collaboration with Aloisa Ruf and OPTIMA Batteries, riffing on the famous Blossom Yellow of the CTR Yellowbird. The flowing graphics form a moving figure-eight, nodding to the B8 name while symbolizing RUF’s continuous cycle of engineering and refinement.

Every line represents movement, and the flowing form of the number eight became a natural symbol, not only for the new boxer eight-cylinder, but for the endless pursuit of improvement and refinement that has always been part of our family’s philosophy. Combined with the unmistakable Blossom Yellow of the CTR Yellowbird, the design honors our heritage while looking confidently toward the future.”

The B8 is still just a prototype, but showing it at Goodwood as a real, functioning test vehicle rather than a static display is a meaningful step for RUF. It marks the debut of the brand’s first eight-cylinder boxer engine and offers a preview of the engineering path likely to shape its next generation of performance cars.
