Lewis Hamilton shows off his 69-km Ferrari F40. Hamilton has released a documentary on the Ferrari Classiche restoration of his 1991 F40. Its first owner collected it in 1991, drove it 69 km (43 miles) home from Maranello and parked it for more than 30 years without ever starting it again. When it arrived at Classiche, it was covered in dust, with debris and dead insects in the cabin. Hamilton considered leaving some of that patina but chose a full restoration, and the teardown revealed that the engine is stamped “44,” his racing number. Hamilton first drove the car into the Monza paddock at the Italian Grand Prix in September. He now says he’s torn over how many more kilometers to add to what may be one of the most original F40s in existence.

Singer reveals an Amethyst DLS Turbo. Singer has shown a new DLS Turbo finished in Amethyst with a Bone leather interior trimmed with purple, green and blue tartan. Like every DLS Turbo, it starts as a 964 and is rebuilt as a modern take on Porsche’s 934/5 race car of the late 1970s. That means a reinforced chassis, carbon-fiber bodywork with dramatically widened rear quarters, a huge rear wing and diffuser, and center-lock magnesium wheels. Power comes from a twin-turbo 3.8-liter flat-six making 700 hp and 553 lb-ft, sent to the rear wheels through a six-speed manual.

A fraudster’s 90-car collection is headed to auction. Clayton Lloyd Iley of Stephenville, Texas, was sentenced on October 1 to 160 months in federal prison for wire fraud and aggravated identity theft. As part of his plea, he agreed to forfeit more than 90 vehicles bought with fraud proceeds. They include a 2012 Lamborghini Aventador, a 2015 Huracán, two Ferrari 488s, a 2014 SRT Viper, a 2021 Porsche Taycan and Maserati MC20s, along with classic Camaros, a Firebird, a Trans Am and military vehicles. The cars will be auctioned to fund restitution, but the Justice Department hasn’t said when.

RM Sotheby’s opens its 20th Hershey sale. RM Sotheby’s Hershey auction runs today and tomorrow at the Hershey Lodge alongside the AACA Eastern Fall Meet. The headline lot is a 1935 Auburn 851 Supercharged Speedster that RM and the Auburn Cord Duesenberg Club document as the very first 851 Speedster built, estimated at $850,000–$950,000. It’s certified ACD Category 1 and was restored by RM Auto Restoration. It won the Roy Faulkner Award for Best Auburn at the ACD Club National Reunion and a CCCA Primary First Prize. Other headliners include a 1934 Duesenberg Model J Convertible Berline by Murphy and a 1915 Mercedes 28/60 HP shown with a town car and touring body and a display chassis.
