Ahead of the Laver Cup 2025, tennis legend Roger Federer and Mercedes-Benz proudly announce the latest milestone in their joint social project, the Neon Legacy initiative. In collaboration with the Laver Cup and the USTA Foundation, six public tennis courts at John McLaren Park in San Francisco have been fully renovated and resurfaced, offering enhanced access to quality sports facilities for the local community.
The Neon Legacy initiative, founded by Federer and Mercedes-Benz, is rooted in a shared commitment to social responsibility and community engagement through the revitalization of public sports infrastructure, helping foster the next generation of athletes by making training spaces more accessible and inclusive.
Following successful projects in London, Vancouver, and Berlin, the San Francisco renovation marks the next chapter in Neon Legacy’s global impact. The upgraded courts were reopened during an official ceremony yesterday, with children from local tennis programs, Roger Federer, Team Europe Laver Cup Captain Yannick Noah, as well as and the Mayor of San Francisco, Daniel Lurie, officially inaugurated the facility.
“I am delighted to be here in San Francisco with Mercedes-Benz to celebrate the opening of our next Neon Legacy project. Tennis has shaped my life, and I hope that this project will inspire the next generation of players and let them discover their passion for the sport right here.”
– Roger Federer, 20-time Grand Slam winner
