NEWARK, Calif. (August 25, 2026) – Lucid Group’s Air Sapphire has topped a head-to-head 0-200-0 mph shootout conducted by Car and Driver, outrunning the Chevrolet Corvette ZR1X, the McLaren 750S, and the Porsche 911 Turbo S in a test that measured not just acceleration, but the full round trip: 0 to 200 mph and back down to a stop.

In the test, the Air Sapphire completed the full 0-200-0 mph run in 25.7 seconds, ahead of the Corvette ZR1X’s 31.8 seconds and the McLaren 750S’s 37.7 seconds. The Porsche 911 Turbo S, meanwhile, was unable to reach 200 mph within the test parameters, topping out at 199.3 mph.

The result is notable because the Air Sapphire is a four-door electric sedan competing against three purpose-built, gas-powered performance machines — a McLaren supercar, a Corvette hypercar variant, and a Porsche 911 Turbo S renowned for its all-weather, all-condition capability. While the gas-powered cars in the test held an edge in braking performance, the Air Sapphire’s straight-line power advantage proved decisive, allowing it to build enough of a lead on the way to 200 mph that its rivals’ stronger stopping power couldn’t close the gap.

The Air Sapphire is the performance flagship of Lucid’s Air sedan lineup, built on the company’s in-house electric powertrain technology. Its result in Car and Driver’s test adds to a growing body of evidence that top-tier electric performance cars can now match or exceed the benchmark set by the internal-combustion performance establishment in extreme acceleration and braking scenarios.
