LONDON, U.K. (October 1, 2026) — A 1993 Porsche 911 Turbo 3.6 (964) with 15,898 warranted miles and a 1999 Ferrari 550 Maranello with just 5,012 miles headline “Poster Cars,” the fourth Collector’s Edition online auction from Car & Classic. The sale brings together low-mileage, well-documented 1990s icons, and bidding closes on Saturday, October 3. The 964 Turbo has drawn the most bids of any lot, a sign of how much collectors now value low mileage combined with documented provenance.
The 964 Turbo 3.6
AFN Chiswick, the official Porsche dealer, supplied the 964 Turbo new on June 29, 1993. It is finished in Metallic Black over a Cashmere Beige full-leather interior. Its file includes records from its pre-delivery inspection and regular specialist maintenance by AFN Chiswick, JZM Porsche and Autofarm, among others, and the car has covered fewer than 500 miles in the last decade.
The Turbo 3.6 was the last 911 Turbo with a single turbocharger and rear-wheel drive before the 993 Turbo moved to twin turbos and all-wheel drive, and right-hand-drive examples are rare. The model’s pop-culture status was sealed by the 1995 film Bad Boys. Fittingly, this car wears the registration BAD 1N, which the seller is retaining and will make available to the winning bidder through separate negotiation.
The Ferrari 550 Maranello
The right-hand-drive 550 Maranello has covered 5,012 miles since new, an average of fewer than 200 miles a year. The 550 replaced the mid-engined F512 M and returned Ferrari’s two-seat V12 flagship to a front-engine layout for the first time since the Daytona. Its combination of V12 power and a gated six-speed manual gearbox has made it one of the most sought-after modern Ferraris.
Low Miles and Notable Histories
Other modern classics in the sale share the same appeal. A 1997 Porsche 911 Carrera 2S (993), from the last generation of air-cooled 911s, has covered just 8,900 miles. A 2009 911 GT3 RS (997) shows 11,664 km, or about 7,248 miles. A 2000 BMW Z8, the roadster made famous by the 1999 James Bond film The World Is Not Enough, has covered 17,700 miles.
Elsewhere, provenance tells the story. The ex-Petter Solberg Subaru Impreza S9 WRC and ex-Tommi Mäkinen Mitsubishi Lancer WRC each carry the documented competition history of a World Rally Champion. A BMW E30 M3 once owned by Jamiroquai frontman Jay Kay and a 1970 Ford Escort Mexico that began life as a press demonstrator each have a history that sets them apart from others of their kind.
“Collectors today are buying the story as much as the car. A ‘poster car’ with a well documented history, from the dealer that supplied it to the specialists who have cared for it since, and with so few miles on the clock, is exactly what the market is rewarding, and the response to the 964 Turbo in this sale reflects that. For buyers, it is a chance to own the car they grew up wanting, in the condition they always imagined it. Our scale, data and digital marketing put each car in front of the enthusiasts and collectors most likely to appreciate it, wherever they are in the world. That reach is one of the defining strengths of an online auction, and we cannot wait to discover where these cars go next.”
