NEW YORK (October 1, 2026) – Hyundai has revealed the all-new Tucson in New York, calling it its boldest SUV ever. The fifth-generation model introduces Hyundai’s “Art of Steel” design language, a next-generation hybrid system, the Pleos Connect infotainment system with the Gleo AI assistant, and a new off-road-focused XRT PRO. The Tucson has been Hyundai’s best-selling SUV worldwide since its 2004 debut, with more than 11.1 million sold, and the U.S. accounts for about 20% of those sales.
“Millions of families around the world count on the Hyundai TUCSON, and this is the best one we have ever built. Its combination of bold design, generous cabin space, seamless infotainment, and available hybrid efficiency sets a new standard for what customers should expect in this segment. TUCSON opens the most ambitious product offensive in our history, including more than 100 new and refreshed vehicles globally by 2030 — 58 in North America alone.”

Bolder, Bigger Design
The “Art of Steel” design gives the Tucson pronounced, muscular fenders balanced by clean door surfaces and crisp body lines. The long-wheelbase model is longer, wider and taller than before, at 185.0″ long (up 2.4″), 75.0″ wide (up 1.6″) and 66.3″ tall (up 0.8″). The doors also open wider, to 83 degrees from 73, making it easier to get in and out. Up front, H-Edge lighting stretches the car’s visual width, and sculptural Prism rear lamps define the tail. Available Micro Pixel Lighting uses 25,600 individual LED pixels for precise beam patterns and welcome animations. New colors include Ranger Green, Kodiak Blue, Driftwood Gray and Red Rock Orange, several available in matte finishes.
A Calmer, Smarter Cabin
Inside, a two-layer instrument panel pairs a clean upper section with a deep open storage tray below, and soft padding runs across the dash, doors and armrest. A 9.9″ slim display sits above the steering column, and physical buttons for climate and audio sit below the center screen. The gear selector moves to a stalk on the steering column. Available features include dual 15W wireless charging pads, three-zone climate control, massaging Ergo Motion seats, a reclining Relaxation Comfort Seat, and heated windshield glass that de-ices in 15 minutes.
The new Pleos Connect infotainment system, built on Android Automotive OS, uses a 17″ or 12.9″ touchscreen and receives over-the-air updates. Its Gleo AI assistant understands natural, conversational requests, and third-party apps run natively without a phone connection. Safety technology includes hot-stamped steel in key structures, driver drowsiness monitoring, child presence detection, and navigation-linked smart cruise control that slows for curves, roundabouts and speed bumps.
Hybrid Efficiency and Off-Road Capability
Hyundai’s next-generation hybrid targets up to 42 mpg and a 0–60 mph time of 8.5 seconds. Hybrid models add E-Traction, which manages torque to cut wheel slip in corners, and a Stay Mode that runs the climate control, audio and charging with the engine off. A turbocharged 1.6-liter engine with 184 hp and an eight-speed automatic is also offered. A plug-in hybrid producing 288 hp and 280 lb-ft of torque offers about 50 miles of electric range. In North America, the hybrid can tow up to 3,000 lbs, 1,000 lbs more than before.
The Tucson also debuts Hyundai’s first Smart Terrain Assist, which rates traction conditions with a color-coded “stuck score,” along with Target Speed Control for low-speed off-road driving, Memory Reversing Assist and a see-through Ground View Monitor. The XRT adds rugged cladding and skid-plate styling. The XRT PRO goes further, with all-wheel drive, all-terrain tires, front recovery hooks and 8.3″ of ground clearance, 1.2″ more than the standard model.
