MONACO (July 15, 2025) – The Frauscher x Porsche 850 Fantom sports boat, jointly developed by Porsche and the Austrian boat builder Frauscher, is continuing to cause a sensation in the maritime sphere. The elegant day cruiser, which features a fully electric drive system carried over from the Porsche Macan Turbo, set a new speed record at the Monaco Energy Boat Challenge.

The Monaco Energy Boat Challenge is considered one of the leading innovation platforms in the field of sustainable maritime mobility. The event is supported by, among others, the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation – an environmental research foundation established by the prince in 2006. The aim of the challenge is to promote emission-free drive technologies and test them under real conditions. In the Speed category, average speed is measured over two one-kilometer runs – a real-life scenario for efficiency and performance. The Frauscher x Porsche 850 Fantom fielded in Monaco was a fully standard production model. Painted in the Porsche color Oakgreen Metallic Neo and with a closed foredeck, the Frauscher x Porsche 850 Fantom competed in the Open Sea class and was able to prevail against a field of top international teams.

“We are very proud that we were able to show the full potential of the Frauscher x Porsche as part of the Monaco Energy Boat Challenge. This success not only underlines the boat’s technical innovation, but also marks an important milestone in the development of electric propulsion solutions in the maritime sector. The combination of Porsche’s drive technology with the boatbuilding know-how of our boatyard has resulted in an electric boat that is incomparable.”

Stefan Frauscher, Managing Director of Frauscher Bootswerft

The boat even attracted the attention of Prince Albert II of Monaco himself, with His Serene Highness having the eFantom explained to him in detail by Stefan Frauscher on the sidelines of the event.

“We are very happy about the success at the event. It proves that Porsche E-Performance enables top performance not only on the road, but also on the water.”

Jörg Kerner, Vice President of the Product Line Macan

The Frauscher x Porsche project
Together with the renowned Austrian boat builder Frauscher, Porsche has developed an 8.67-meter-long and 2.49-meter-wide electric boat that is designed to impress on the water with a level of electric performance that is typical of the sports car brand. At the core of the project is the drive system from the fully electric Porsche Macan Turbo, which has been extensively adapted for use on the water. Combined with the iconic hull shape of the Frauscher 858 Fantom, the result is an electric day cruiser with exceptional performance, state-of-the-art technology and stylish aesthetics. Just as two-door Porsche sports cars are available as coupés and convertibles, among other variants, Frauscher offers the choice between the Runabout and Air – in other words between a closed foredeck, a classic look, a cabin under the foredeck or a center helm with a seating and lounging area at the bow.

The Frauscher x Porsche 850 Fantom is manufactured at the Frauscher boatyard in Ohlsdorf, Upper Austria. Porsche supplies the high-voltage battery and the drive system, including control unit, as pre-assembled modules. Frauscher is responsible for final assembly, sales logistics and after-sales management.
