DEARBORN, Mich. (March 31, 2026) – In the mid ‘90s, Ford didn’t just launch a new SUV; it reshaped the American driveway and reinvigorated the modern full-size SUV segment, offering a rugged yet refined alternative to the minivan and station wagon.
From the start, Expedition has enabled big families to lead big lives. Now, as Expedition celebrates its 30th anniversary, Ford is honoring its legacy with a special offering: the 2027 Ford Expedition 30th Anniversary Appearance Package.
A Legacy Forged in Blue Ember: The Commanding Presence of the Ford Expedition 30th Anniversary Appearance Package
Throughout the course of its 30-year history, Expedition has evolved to meet the needs of customers. With nearly 3 million Expeditions sold since its debut in 1996, the 30th Anniversary package was designed to celebrate the nameplate’s growth over the past three decades.
The deep, rich tone of the available, exclusive Blue Ember metallic tri-coat exterior paint makes an immediate statement. Originally reserved only for the Mustang Dark Horse, the exterior color is meant to highlight Expedition’s power, refinement, and distinctly premium identity. Available on Expedition’s stealth appearance trim, the anniversary appearance package is differentiated by its lighter, salt crystal gray interior trim.
Complementing this unique paint are aggressive 22-inch high-gloss ebony wheels. Their dark, sleek finish contrasts sharply with the Blue Ember paint, enhancing the vehicle’s commanding road presence.
Finally, exclusive anniversary badging adorns both the exterior and interior of the vehicle, marking its historical significance. On the exterior, exclusive 30th anniversary badging can be found on Expedition’s center wheel caps, as well as the rear of the vehicle. On the interior, you’ll find anniversary badging on the vehicle’s door sills and even embossed in leather on the sliding center console. These emblems celebrate Expedition’s enduring legacy and acknowledge the millions of miles and memories made over three decades.
Three Decades of Defining the Modern Family SUV
When the Expedition first rolled off the assembly line in 1997, it wasn’t just joining a segment; it was helping to build one. The first-generation Expedition was proudly built on the same platform of the F-150 and offered robust V8 power traditionally found in pickups, coupled with on-road refinement and ample room for passengers.
The second generation, in 2003, brought advancements like an independent rear suspension, dramatically improving ride comfort — crucial for those long family road trips. By the third generation in 2007, we were integrating advanced technology, like Ford’s SYNC infotainment system, making connectivity a core part of the family journey.
Over the years, Expedition consistently held its thumb on the heartbeat of American culture. Like its utility siblings, Expedition sported the iconic Eddie Bauer edition two tone aesthetic, personifying late ’90s and early ’00s Americana. And, in 2008, Expedition leaned into its larger-than-life persona with the FunkMaster Flex Edition Expedition.
Each iteration of Expedition, no matter the generation or model year, has been a testament to our commitment to innovation, ensuring the Expedition remains a powerful, well-equipped and rugged offering capable of being that third space to help connect customers to the people and moments that matter most.
