Joint Venture Between Volkswagen Group and Rivian Shows Strong Progress

WOLFSBURG, Germany/PALO ALTO, Calif. (November 12, 2025) – One year after its inception, the joint venture “Rivian and Volkswagen Group Technologies” (RV Tech) is successfully collaborating with the Volkswagen Group and Rivian. The development of a state-of-the-art zonal architecture for future software-defined vehicles (SDVs) is progressing. Currently, RV Tech is preparing reference vehicles from the Volkswagen, Scout, and Audi brands with the SDV architecture for winter testing in Q1 2026. At the same time, the organisation is being consistently developed: RV Tech now boasts a powerful international development team of more than 1,500 employees. With its new location in Berlin, the joint venture is also strengthening cross-site collaboration with the Volkswagen Group brands in Europe. Continue reading

RESTON, Va. (October 27, 2025) – In 1949, Dutch businessman Ben Pon arrived in New York with two Volkswagen Type 1 vehicles—later known as the Beetle—in one of the first attempts to bring a small, affordable vehicle to American buyers. Just six years later, Volkswagen of America, Inc. (VWoA) was founded with the new sales company’s head office in Englewood Cliffs, New Jersey. By the following year, nearly 50,000 cars had been sold. In the 70 years since, Volkswagen has grown into one of the most influential automotive brands in U.S. history, recognized for its iconic vehicles, innovation, and commitment to manufacturing in America. Volkswagen Celebrates the Comeback of ‘Fire & Ice’

WOLFSBURG (September 15, 2025) – Volkswagen is bringing back the music and pop culture of the 1990s with its new all-electric ID.3 GTX Fire & Ice special model. With spectacular stunts and breathtaking landscape shots, Willy Bogner’s ski film ‘Fire and Ice’ (1986) quickly achieved cult status in the 1980s. The legendary Golf 2 Fire & Ice (1990), inspired by the film, had a lasting impact on the Zeitgeist. The film and the car have retained their cult status to this day. Volkswagen is now continuing this success story in musical form: with ‘Fire + Ice’, internationally acclaimed DJ Purple Disco Machine reinterprets the film’s iconic theme song and, together with Jake Shears, brings a fresh sound to the nostalgic success story. Volkswagen Presents the Golf GTI EDITION 50

WOLFSBURG (June 20, 2025) – It’s the highlight before the highlight: Volkswagen is presenting the new Golf GTI EDITION 501 at the 24-hour race at the Nürburgring. In 2026, the Golf GTI2 will celebrate its 50th anniversary, and the brand is marking this special event with this outstanding special model. With an output of 239 kW (325 PS), the Golf GTI EDITION 50 is going down in history as the most powerful production Golf GTI to date. Production of the exclusive special model is scheduled to start in Wolfsburg at the end of 2025 so the Golf GTI EDITION 50 can be delivered to customers promptly for the start of its anniversary year from the first quarter of 2026. New Volkswagen Golf GTI EDITION 50 sets Nordschleife Record

WOLFSBURG (June 13, 2025) – Not yet on the market and already a record holder: on 20 June 2025, Volkswagen will present the world premiere of the new Golf GTI EDITION 50 at the 24-hour race at the Nürburgring. The most powerful production GTI to date is the exclusive anniversary model for the 50th anniversary of the compact sports car icon. The birthday celebration will take place in 2026 – in parallel with the market entry of the new model. But the Golf GTI EDITION 50 has already written itself into the history books of the Nürburgring and the Volkswagen brand: racing driver Benny Leuchter (D) completed a lap of the Nordschleife with a near-production test vehicle of the Golf GTI EDITION 50 in just 07:46:13 minutes.
