WOODCLIFF LAKE, N.J. (September 25, 2026) – The 2027 BMW iX3 goes on sale in the United States today, bringing the first production model of BMW’s Neue Klasse (New Class) generation to American buyers. The iX3 50 xDrive starts at $61,500 plus $1,350 destination and handling, and customer deliveries begin in late September.
One Well-Equipped Launch Model
The iX3 arrives in a single configuration, the iX3 50 xDrive. Dual electric motors, one on each axle, provide all-wheel drive and produce a combined 463 hp and 476 lb-ft of torque. BMW estimates the iX3 will reach 60 mph in 4.7 seconds, and its top speed is 130 mph. Additional single- and dual-motor variants are expected in early 2027.
At its base price, the iX3 costs $5,000 less than the comparably specified, gas-powered BMW X3 M50 xDrive. Sport, M Sport, and M Sport Professional packages are available, and a fully optioned iX3 comes to roughly $82,000.
Class-Leading Range
The iX3 uses BMW’s sixth-generation eDrive technology, which combines highly efficient electric motors with new high-voltage batteries built from more energy-dense cylindrical cells. EPA-estimated range is 383 to 434 miles, depending on the wheel and tire package. The maximum figure comes with the no-cost 20″ wheels and summer tires, while the standard 20″ all-season setup is rated at 393 miles. The battery is covered by an 8-year, 100,000-mile warranty.
Fast Charging on an 800-Volt Architecture
The iX3’s 800-volt architecture supports DC fast charging at up to 400 kW. At a suitable charger, it can go from 10 to 80 percent in 21 minutes or add up to 185 miles of range in 10 minutes. A standard NACS charging port gives owners access to many Tesla Supercharger stations, and the iX3 also supports bidirectional charging.
A New Generation of BMW Technology
The iX3 debuts BMW’s Panoramic iDrive experience, which runs on BMW Operating System X. Its centerpiece is BMW Panoramic Vision, a display projected across the full width of the base of the windshield that replaces a traditional instrument cluster. Driving dynamics are managed by a new high-performance central computer BMW calls the “Heart of Joy.” Standard equipment includes heated seats and Comfort Access with BMW Digital Key Plus.
Availability
The iX3 can be configured using the Build Your Own tool on bmwusa.com and reserved through a preferred BMW retailer with a $1,000 deposit.
