MUNICH, Germany (September 30, 2026) — BMW has introduced new M Performance light alloy wheels for the BMW M5 Sedan and M5 Touring, made with a High Pressure Casting (HPC) process that the company says is being used for the first time in the automotive industry. The new process lets BMW shape cast wheels in ways that were not previously possible while cutting weight by up to 20% per wheel.

The Wheel
The new style 1075 M wheels come in 20″ and 21″ sizes and are sold as a complete wheel set with sport tires. Two finishes are offered, Gold Bronze and Jet Black, and the wheels are available exclusively for the M5 Sedan and M5 Touring.

According to BMW, the HPC process opens up a new design language for cast wheels, with geometries, surfaces and fine contours that conventional casting could not achieve. Wheels made this way can carry up to 70 bladed spokes, or very thin sections that improve aerodynamics.

Cast in 0.05 Seconds
The process was developed by the German company Entec-Stracon GmbH. Each wheel is cast under vacuum and high pressure in just 0.05 seconds, filling from the outside in, while 80 sensors and an AI system monitor the process. The wheel comes out of the mold within a few seconds and needs no heat treatment afterward.

BMW says total production time is cut in half. The wheels use an optimized, recyclable aluminum alloy, and the energy needed to make each one is also halved.

Stronger and Lighter
The HPC process produces a finer grain structure in the metal, which makes it significantly stronger. That strength allows BMW to remove up to 20% of the weight of each wheel with no loss of performance. Less unsprung mass, BMW says, sharpens handling, quickens acceleration and improves braking — benefits that add to the sporting character of the M5 Sedan and M5 Touring.

Availability
The new style 1075 M wheels are available from autumn 2026 through BMW M Performance Parts. US availability and pricing will be announced at a later date.
