STUTTGART, Germany (October 1, 2026) — Porsche has given photographer Stefan Bogner behind-the-scenes access to document how the GT3 Bergsport is built in Zuffenhausen. Bogner followed the market edition from series production through hand finishing, capturing how craftsmanship and advanced manufacturing technology work together to create it.
Developed by Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur, the GT3 Bergsport is based on the current 911 GT3 with Touring Package. It begins life on the same precise production line as every other 911, and it takes on its distinctive character only through the combination of series production and hand-crafted finishing.
Made in Zuffenhausen
The 911 is made up of about 1,900 components and is currently built in 25 variants, from the classic 911 Carrera and market editions such as the GT3 Bergsport to the GT3 Cup customer race cars. Every 911 variant has been built on a single production line at Porsche’s Zuffenhausen headquarters for more than six decades, made possible by a highly flexible production system, skilled craftsmanship and sophisticated manufacturing processes.
Building a 911 takes about four days on average, from body construction and paint through final assembly. Robots handle the work where precision, repeatability and efficiency matter most, while people remain essential for experience, craftsmanship and an uncompromising focus on quality.
“Anyone given the opportunity to look behind the scenes of 911 production in Stuttgart-Zuffenhausen doesn’t encounter a cold, automated assembly line, but people.”
– Stefan Bogner, Photographer
Finished by Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur
The GT3 Bergsport’s body construction, paint and assembly follow the same standards as every other 911. The car Bogner photographed is finished in Valley Green Metallic. After series production, specialists at Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur add bespoke details, premium materials and exclusive features by hand.
Those details include a circular B-pillar badge inscribed “GT3 Bergsport,” a badge on the rear lid grille, an embossed leather center console lid, and orange, black and white decorative stitching in the interior. Even the key, leather key pouch and documentation wallet are made to match the GT3 Bergsport’s color palette and logos.
Porsche says the result combines the efficiency of modern manufacturing with the attention to detail of a hand-crafted product, and that every GT3 Bergsport leaves Zuffenhausen carrying the imprint of the people who built it.
