PICK OF THE DAY: Immaculate 1970 Mercedes-Benz 280 SE 3.5 Coupé

While the Mercedes-Benz 280 SE 3.5 Cabriolets (W111) have been a blue-chip mainstay of the collector car world for several years, their hardtop counterparts have been steadily gaining interest. Quality examples, like our pick today, are now well into six figures as well. This one is a solid No 2 with an impressive 72,000 original miles and all its original manuals. It has the Behr AC unit, central locking and power windows. The paint, brightwork, glass, leather and wood all look to have been well cared for. It simply exudes exudes elegance. ART AND TECHNOLOGY: Ground-Breaking 3D Printed Gold Process Used in Bentley Mulliner Batur

PICK OF THE DAY: Honest 1971 FJ40 Survivor at a Reasonable Price

It’s not often that we come across mostly original, mostly solid Toyota Land Cruiser FJ40s with 80,000 miles on the original motor. When we do, it’s typically through an auction house or site where the price typically climbs well over 50 grand. But this one from 1971 appears to be a genuine, well-kept survivor. Even as the FJ40 has taken a back seat to early Broncos over the past few years, this one stands out as a relative bargain. It’s here on Craigslist for $29,000.

PICK OF THE DAY: Meticulously Maintained 1995 BMW 850Ci

While the BMW 8-Series (E31) of the 1990s was for its time a technological marvel, its complex workings often prove troublesome 30 years on. Proper maintenance—while a primary consideration in buying any collector car—is that much more so in the 5.4-liter V12 (M73) 850Ci. Here’s an example of one from 1995 that, while at over 100,000 miles on the clock is no garage queen, has an impeccable service history and its care is reflected in the overall condition. The Oxford Green works well on an 850i/Ci and this one has been dressed up with a factory body kit from the six-figure 850CSi (while shy of the CSi’s performance, the M73 Ci is actually more rare by nearly 300 copies; 363 of the 1,218 made ending up in North America in 1995). Somewhat rare, gorgeous to look at and in this condition a joy to drive, you can bid on it here at Shiftgate Automotive Auctions”. Current bidding sits at $10,000 with one day to go.

Update: Bidding closed at $22,500 but still available as a Buy Now.

PICK OF THE DAY: Quintessential Jaguar XK150 SE Fixed-Head

This 1959 Jaguar XK150 represents everything a collector or enthusiast would want in special-equipment (SE) model. The 3.4 SE was seen as a bridge between the first XK150s (bulkier, slower, and less flowing than their predecessors) and the final 3.8 cars that led into the E-Type era. With 210 hp and disc brakes, they carried on the sporting XK genes in a more refined package with refinements such as a one-piece windscreen and roomier cockpit. This example retains its numbers-matching motor (rebuilt less than 10,000 miles ago) while both interior and exterior were kept as original as possible. It’s a fine collectible that’s intended to be enjoyed. Find it here on Hemmings Auctions. The current bid is at $45,000 with one day to go.
