The BMW M2 CS sets a new record of 7:25.5 on the Nürburgring-Nordschleife

WOODCLIFF LAKE, N.J. (July 3, 2025) – The new BMW M2 CS sets a new benchmark on the legendary Nordschleife racetrack of the Nürburgring on 11 April 2025. Driven by BMW M development engineer Jörg Weidinger, it completed the 12.9-mile Nürburgring-Nordschleife circuit in 7:25.5, beating the previous best time for compact cars by eight seconds. This record-setting BMW M2 CS not only raises the bar in the compact car class, but also further solidifies BMW M’s reputation as a manufacturer of high-performance vehicles that excel both on the road and on the racetrack. Petersen Automotive Museum Celebrates 50 Years of the BMW 3 Series

LOS ANGELES (June 18, 2025) – “The Ultimate Racing Machine” is now open to the public in the museum’s Vault, highlighting 50 years of the BMW 3 Series

The Petersen Automotive Museum’s recently reimagined James H. Frank Family Vault has unveiled “The Ultimate Racing Machine,” an exhibition celebrating 50 years of the BMW 3 Series. Presented in partnership with BMW, the display traces the evolution of the iconic model through all seven generations, showcasing its impact on motorsport and the marque’s heritage. In addition, the display will highlight the M3-derived M4 models that have carried the legacy forward for the iconic brand.

The original BMW 3 Series and now the BMW 3 Series and its ‘fraternal twins’ the 4 Series are the core of the BMW brand. ‘The Ultimate Racing Machine’ exhibit brings together seven of the most successful and important race cars— one from each generation combined with a couple of wonderfully preserved street examples including one of the three remaining, V-8 powered, M3 GTR Straßenversion.”

50 Years of BMW Art Cars and the BMW 3 Series at the BMW Museum

MUNICH (June 16, 2025) – The BMW Museum in Munich is using a special exhibition taking place as part of the international BMW Art Car World Tour to celebrate the 50-year anniversary of both the legendary BMW Art Car Collection and the iconic BMW 3 Series. The exhibition will open its doors to visitors from 17 June, hot on the heels of the Le Mans 24 Hours race weekend. Fittingly, it was at Le Mans in 1975 that the first BMW Art Car – created by Alexander Calder – staged its glittering premiere. The exhibition, which runs until 1 February 2026, will see the BMW Museum present a trio of Art Cars based on the BMW 3 Series: Sandro Chia’s BMW M3 GTR and the BMW M3 (Group A) cars designed by Michael Jagamara Nelson and Ken Done respectively. The New BMW M2 CS Raises the Bar for Sheer Driving Pleasure

Like the BMW M2 Racing, which is based on the chassis from the latest-generation M2, the BMW M2 CS will be manufactured at BMW Group Plant San Luis Potosí in Mexico.
