ATLANTA (August 17, 2026) – Mercedes-Benz has revealed the new C-Class, described as the most comprehensive update yet for its best-selling sedan, arriving at U.S. dealerships in the first half of 2027. It builds on the model’s established strengths (sporty design, elegant interior, intuitive tech) while adding a sharper exterior, elevated interior comfort, an electrified high-tech engine, and MB.OS-powered intelligence. Since debuting in 1982, the C-Class has sold over 12 million units globally.

Exterior changes center on a bolder front end, including a new illuminated radiator grille with chrome star pattern, star-design headlamps and taillights, and gloss-black elements linking the grille to the lights. Entry moments get a projected welcome light pattern from the side sills and mirrors. Sculpted bumpers, new 18- and 19-inch wheel options (including AMG designs), and two new paint colors (Miami Silver Metallic and Moody Sky Grey Metallic) round out the look, alongside a new optional AMG Line Plus package with sportier trim and red accents.

Inside, the cabin borrows design cues from the S-Class, with a 12.3-inch driver display, an 11.9-inch portrait central touchscreen, and a redesigned multifunction steering wheel with a rocker and roller control. The headline tech feature is the fourth-generation MBUX system’s AI-based Virtual Assistant, built on ChatGPT, Microsoft Bing, and Google Gemini, which can hold multi-turn conversations, remember short-term context, answer everyday questions (stock prices, weather, ski conditions), and surface music or podcasts on request. Navigation uses Google technology with Google Cloud’s Automotive AI Agent and an available augmented-reality head-up display carried over from the S-Class/EQS. An upgraded Burmester 3D Surround Sound System (15 speakers, 710 watts, Dolby Atmos) and expanded ambient lighting (64 colors, 10 “worlds”) add to the sensory package. New Beech Brown and Cherry Red upholstery options and new wood/metallic trim finishes round out interior personalization.

The new M 254 EVO 2.0-liter turbo four-cylinder makes 255 hp and 295 lb-ft, with a 27-hp overboost function for about 20 seconds, aided by a second-generation integrated starter-generator (ISG 2.0) adding up to 23 hp/151 lb-ft via a 48-volt mild-hybrid system enabling coasting and recuperation. A retuned four-link front/five-link rear suspension sharpens handling while preserving ride comfort, and extensive NVH work (aero mirrors, sealed windshield, caged exhaust mounting, 0.24 drag coefficient) targets a quieter cabin.

The car runs Mercedes’ new MB.OS platform for over-the-air updates and app customization, and comes standard with MB.DRIVE driver-assistance suite (eight cameras, five radar sensors, 12 ultrasonic sensors) including lane-keeping, distance/braking assist, standard 360-degree parking assist, and an automatic reverse-maneuvering function. An optional next-generation DIGITAL LIGHT system with micro-LED tech is also available, offering higher resolution and up to 50% better efficiency than the outgoing system.
