AUBURN HILLS, Mich. (September 30, 2026) — Jeep has introduced the 2027 Cherokee Trailhawk, a Trail Rated version of its hybrid Cherokee SUV that pairs authentic off-road capability with an estimated 31 mpg combined. The new Trailhawk brings best-in-class approach, departure and breakover angles, a class-exclusive two-speed power transfer unit and a 1″ suspension lift, and it is available to order now from $44,625, including destination.
“Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk is the real deal, and earned its Trail Rated badge through a gauntlet of testing scenarios. This SUV blends authentic 4×4 off-road capability that the Trailhawk badge represents, and with hybrid efficiency that is so important to customers in this segment.”
– Branden Coté, Jeep Brand CEO
Earning the Trail Rated Badge
For well over a decade, the Trailhawk badge has signified Jeep’s most advanced 4×4 systems, suspension technology and purpose-built design, and the Cherokee was one of the first Jeep models to wear it. To earn its Trail Rated badge, the 2027 Cherokee Trailhawk was put through validation trips in the American Southwest that go well beyond what most owners will ever encounter. At Sand Hollow, engineers tested slickrock and sand performance on the underbody and sensitive components. In Moab, they dialed in articulation, ground clearance and traction on some of the best-known off-road terrain in the country.
The result is a set of best-in-class figures: a 28.8-degree approach angle, a 31.8-degree departure angle and a 21.9-degree breakover angle. The Cherokee Trailhawk is also the only SUV in its class with a 24″ water-fording rating. A 1″ suspension lift brings ground clearance to 9″, and together with unique spring and damper tuning, it delivers a 45-point improvement in Ramp Travel Index, the standard measure of suspension flex and axle articulation, over other Cherokee models.
Underneath is Jeep’s Active Drive II 4×4 system with Lock Mode and a standard, class-exclusive two-speed power transfer unit with a 2.92:1 low range and a 37.5:1 crawl ratio. Jeep says that lets the Trailhawk climb steep, loose and rocky surfaces without the driver riding the brakes. Standard steel skid plates protect the front axle, wiring and fuel tank, and a protection plate shields the hybrid battery. Selec-Terrain comes standard with five modes: Auto, Sport, Snow, Sand/Mud and Rock.
Rugged Looks to Match
The Cherokee Trailhawk builds on 50 years of Cherokee design with its upright stance and squared-off shapes. It gets a Trailhawk-specific front fascia with a gloss black upper section, which also helps deliver its best-in-class approach and departure angles. Class-exclusive red tow hooks sit front and rear, an anti-glare Trailhawk graphic on the hood complements the Trailhawk badging on the liftgate, and two unique 17″ wheel designs wear 245/65R17 Nexen Roadian ATX all-terrain tires.
Inside, the Trailhawk introduces premium Mantis Green upholstery with red accent stitching and an embossed logo. The shift dial is finished in Black Spun Aluminum and framed by a Radical Red bezel, a detail shared with some of Jeep’s most capable trims, including the Wrangler Rubicon.
Well-Equipped for the Trail and the Road
Every Cherokee comes standard with a 10.25″ digital instrument cluster and a 12.3″ infotainment screen. The Trailhawk pairs its off-road hardware with most of the content from the Overland trim. It is powered by a 1.6-liter turbo hybrid producing 210 hp, and it comes with LED headlamps and taillamps, fog lamps, a gloss black front upper fascia and rear liftgate accent, heated power front seats, a heated steering wheel, a foot-activated power liftgate, and memory seats and mirrors.
Three option packages are available. The Sun and Sound package adds a dual-pane sunroof and a premium Alpine audio system. A trailering package enables the Cherokee’s 3,500-lb towing capacity, which Jeep says is unsurpassed. The Advanced Pro Tech Group adds ventilated front seats, heated rear seats, front and rear camera washers and a 360-degree camera.
