DEARBORN, Mich. (August 21, 2026) – Ford Racing today announced the 2027 schedule for Mustang Challenge North America, the single-make series that began three years ago as an opportunity for Mustang enthusiasts to race a track-ready Dark Horse R — a car built to bridge the gap between the production Dark Horse and the Mustang GT4 race car. The announcement follows the earlier release of the 2027 Mustang Cup Australia calendar and confirms the fourth-season schedule for the series that launched Ford’s global one-make racing program.

What began as a single series has grown into three Mustang one-make championships spanning two continents, and Ford Racing said its 2027 slate reflects the growing importance of where those series compete. Mustang Challenge North America’s fourth season will visit six of the region’s most storied tracks, several of them alongside marquee IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship and FIA World Endurance Championship event weekends.

The season opens January 22–24 at Daytona International Speedway, marking Mustang Challenge’s first appearance at the Roar Before the 24 weekend — the traditional lead-in to the Rolex 24 at Daytona and the start of the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship season.

The series then heads to Sebring International Raceway for the 12 Hours of Sebring, March 17–20, continuing what has become an annual tradition for Mustang Challenge alongside another marquee WeatherTech SportsCar Championship weekend.

The season reaches its midpoint April 30–May 2 at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca, where the Dark Horse R field will tackle the track’s famous Corkscrew for a third consecutive year. Following Laguna Seca, the series will pause competition until August as part of a “global invitational pause” built into the 2027 calendar for each Ford one-make series. The break gives competitors interested in the 2027 Mustang Challenge Spa Invitational time to transport personnel and equipment to Belgium and back without missing a round of their home championship.

Racing resumes August 20–22 at Virginia International Raceway for the start of the season’s second half, followed by the penultimate round at Circuit of The Americas, September 10–12, as part of the FIA World Endurance Championship’s Lone Star Le Mans — a weekend that will also mark the Ford Hypercar’s United States competition debut.

The season concludes at Road Atlanta as part of the Petit Le Mans event weekend, marking Mustang Challenge’s first-ever appearance at the venue and closing out the year alongside the WeatherTech SportsCar Championship season finale.
